Not with a fizzle but with a BANG

It's New Years Eve and I can not tell you how much I love New Years. It represents everything that I constantly strive to find everday in life; New beginnings, moving forward, and starting over. I accomplished a lot in 2010 and I am looking to 2011, hopeful. 2011 means graduation, college, moving out, and starting a life I have strived my whole life trying to prepare for, especially these last few years. I hope to accomplish a lot this coming year. Here's to another year, may 2011 be a kind, swift, and smooth journey. Stay golden.

Also, here is to my 50th post! May 2011 bring many more fresh ideas!

Christmas Blues

I was thrilled for Christmas just a few weeks ago but now the holiday blues have hit. Hit hard. I am trying to remedy it because I really want to have a great Christmas this year. I miss being a kid. Mikey and Rachel are just so excited. I miss that. I mean Christmas has always been kinda harsh for me but as a kid I could always look forward to the presents, food, and snow. Anyways, so I am trying to muster up all this Christmas spirit and I am falling short. However, the snowfall is helping. It helps get me in the mood because I love snow over the holidays. I am just adoring this snowfall. There is nothing more that I love when it comes to Christmas than watching the snow fall while I am inside, warm and cozy, listening to Christmas music. I almost feel a calm sense of serenity. I need more calm in my life. So, please, LET IT SNOW! I understand that there are trapped travelers and whatnot but they are already stuck inside anyways... And even if there is no more snow that is willing to let fall to the ground... Please just leave the snow we have so bountifully recieved stay just until midnight on Saturday. Just let the temperatures stay low though they are due to skyrocket back up to forty. Temps only need to be 8 degrees less than that to keep the snow around. Pretty please?! This is Christmas in Utah afterall! If I have to deal with the snow through March then I think Mother Nature can spare us what we've got!

Karma Ran Over My Dogma

I am a strong believer in KARMA. If you put good out in the world the world will treat you well. To you, yes, you. The one who believes that they are so much better than everyone else. Yes, you know who you are. The next time you feel the need to invite me to leave the room and/or make rude comments about my friends, leaders, family, me, or our attire or any other crap for that matter... Please for the sake of all of us... Please just stuff it. Oh and please stop rolling your eyes at the world... I am worried that one day you'll just roll them out of their sockets. Someday karma will come back to bite you and the world really will put you in your place and I sure as heck hope I am there to watch. What a show that will be! I'll bring the popcorn if someone will bring the pop!!! Where does the good go?

The Blizzard of the Decade

First and foremost I would like to say, Mother Nature, you indeed suck. So, Monday night hear about this massive storm blowing in and that it is going to be the blizzard of the decade. I am hearing weather storm warnings here and there and I am hearing all these weathermen telling us to take extra precautions when it came to getting home before the storm hit. So we all took the precautions and we were all ready when a cloud came along, sneezed on us, and went on it's way. The temperatures dropped but there was only frost. I was totally bummed out and told myself to wait till morning and that this blizzard still had a good 12 hours, supposedly, left to it. This morning I woke up to nothing but plummeted temps and that same frosty layer that I had said goodnight to. Lame. My opinion personally is that if it is going to be below freezing we might as well have some snow to go with. This morning I also woke up to the slew of updates on facebook about the "storm" and while I fully agree... Good grief people!
I learned today that the amount of snow does not define a blizzard. Interestingly enough it is the combination of a massive temperature drop and high mph winds. Not necessarily the snow falling. Interesting yeah? I thought so.
Today we also had our family photos. It's kind of a tradition to do over Thanksgiving Holidays. I barely managed to pull myself together but we did it.
Anyways, Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Enjoy stuffing your face, watching football, and all the napping you could ever indulge yourself in.

I Solemnly Swear I Am Up to No Good

I just have to post about how freaking amazing Harry Potter is. Yes, I am one of those people. I have been a devout Harry Potter fan since Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone came out when I was about 9 and I continued all through the rest of my adolescent years. I was even disappointed that I hadn't received my Hogwarts acceptance letter for my 11th birthday, I had convinced myself I'd get one. And now I sit here and I have mixed emotions about it all coming to an end in less than a year. On some level I am truly, deeply, disturbed. Harry Potter has been a constant in my life and now it is coming to an end. I felt this when I finished Deathly Hallows but I told myself that there were always the releases of the movies and I at least had a couple more years. The time has come and the end is just around the corner. All is well though because there is always re-reading and re-watching to be done.
Mischief Managed,
Bren :)

Career Exploration

As a school activity I had to sit through a scheduled career exploration seminar thing with my class. We did profiling on ourselves, endless profiling, and we came up with potential jobs. The average student had over 20 suggestions of career types that would fit their interests and personalities. I had 7. They recommend that I would like working in the medical field. Which is true, medicine and the human body has always fascinated me, and it is indeed where I want to be and what I want to do with my life. But according to them I don't want interaction with live human beings if I don't have to. They recommend that I work with dead people. I laughed. Then realized this wasn't the first time it had crossed my mind. I had always found a great amount of relief and a sense of peace and solitude while alone. I even would go as far as to say I prefer to be by myself and I am for the most part. After coming to this realization I promptly turned to my friend and said, "That's it! That's what I need! I need to work with corpses!" Maybe the counselors and the Career Exploration program isn't a bunch of crap after all.

Chocolate Addiction

You know in the movies where the girl has some serious issues with pms, men, stress, and/or work and they turn to tv dramas and they hit the chocolate hard to create their own course of therapy treatment? Yeah. That's me. This whole week. I have been craving nothing but chocolate. I can barely manage to choke down any other food. And I really know that sounds ridiculous but I am not joking. Hot chocolate for breakfast, dark chocolate bar for lunch, truffle for a snack, a milk chocolate bar for dinner and some other form of chocolate for dessert. Ok, well that was a bit of and exaggeration... Well... Kinda. Everyone has their dirty little secrets and their guilty pleasures, don't judge me by mine unless you want to be judged by yours. I blame it purely on being a woman and having pms. That is my excuse and I am sticking to it. ;)
Just for future reference the best kind of chocolate brands are Lindt, Godiva, Cadbury, Kara, See's, Milka, Choxie, Dove, Rocky Mountain Chocolate, Andies, Ghirardelli, and Ferrero Rocher. Hershey is crap. It brings shame to the chocolate name. Best hot chocolate? Probably Starbucks or Kneaders. If you have to drink from a powder you want Stephen's or Nestle. Again, SwissMiss is no good. Chocolate baked goods are delish too. Kneaders also has an array of delish chocolate brownies and other chocolate pastries. Chili's Lava Cake is to die for too. Best ice cream? Dreyers Double Fudge Brownie. I know my chocolate, there is no doubt about it. Also, the darker the chocolate the better it tastes and the better it is for you. Remember... No judgments. Hahaha.
And about the tv dramas... I am still, and always will be, very very stuck on Grey's Anatomy. Chocolate and Grey's... You seriously cannot go wrong with that.

Holidays

Between holiday specials, seeing Christmas decorations up in the stores, cold weather and Mikey's little holiday craft projects from Mrs. Smith's class I am itching for the holidays. I have never been big on the holidays, in fact, this would be a first. Holidays tend to get me down but I am welcoming them with open arms this year. I want the lights, snow, and the days off of school. :)
I feel the need to consume mass amounts of chocolate, listen to Christmas carols, eat candy canes, stay in my pj's all day, dress warm, and to go shopping. If that is not the holiday spirit I don't know what is.
Even though I've pretty much grown out of Christmas it is always so fun to be around the kiddlies at Christmas time. If there was anything that could and can bring a smile to my face at Christmas time it is those two dolls. They are probably pretty much some of my favorite people in my life.
So... Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!!!

One year older and wiser too...

Well I have been 18 for a week now and before I go on to tell you all the wonders of being of legal age to buy dry ice, I would like to thank everyone who wished me a happy birthday. I appreciated every last one of them.
In the first week of being an 18 year old I moved up to Relief Society and got my first calling as a visiting teacher. I busted up my thumb and went to insta-care by myself and filled out all the paperwork myself without parental consent or whatever. I got a cell phone, so if you need to contact me just let me know and I'll be happy to give you my number. I tried a new restaurant called "Shoots", way good food and I am usually not a big fan of Chinese food. I got my own birth certificate printed off. I got a state ID. I got a new bank account. I got a debit card and bought a cell phone cover as my first purchase. I spent a lot of time watching Grey's Anatomy. Best. Show. EVER. Just by the way.
It has been a very busy week but I guess that comes with being an adult. Here's to growing older!
