Morning Marmalade

It's just been one of those days....

First thing this morning I was awoken by the smell of scorched sugar and mum cussing as she furiously scrapped the pan that she had burned the orange marmalade in. The day continued to go like that. Mum's going to Bear Lake with the rest of the family while I stay home. I participated in a very annoying arguement that insued when my friend tried to pick a fight. I've been cleaning all day for the first time in weeks due to the lack of my mobility from the surgery. But I pushed through and everything is clean just the way I like it. It was hot and muggy all day here in Utah. Mikey decided to flood the house with the outside hose trying to "drown the spider". Mum was cleaning the fridge shelf when the tempered glass exploded all over her and the floor. Luckily, Mum walked away without a scratch though we are sure she still has tiny shards of glass in her hair.

On a slightly happier note, Cousin Glen is here from Australia again. He brought us some Vegemite, Snakes, and Jelly Babies! Thanks Glen! (Did I mention he got rear-ended on the way here from the airport, in his rental? I told you it's been one of those days!)

May tomorrow be better.... Please....

Perfectly Imperfect

I am not this country's ideal beauty. I am not skinny. I am not tan. I am not tall. I am not blemish free. I do not have long hair with the perfect shine and wave. Instead I live happily. I eat, therefore I have curves. I am short. I have zits. My hair is short and with a non- existant luster. I am me. What you see is what you get. Perfectly Imperfect in every way, shape, and form. Quite literally. :]

Lesson 1.1

Today was an utter disaster. May I repeat disaster. I woke up and the first thing on my agenda was to talk my father into getting a dog. My siblings and I cried, pleaded, bargained, and manipulated and got my dad to agree to the dog. We found a dog that we all loved brought her home, and tried to introduce "Anna", our new black lab, to our home and way of life. She was a sweetheart but between her trying to eat the cats, and the cats trying to attack her it was obvious that it was a failed attempt. After about 2-3 hours she was on her way back to where she came from. We were all bummed, the children cried, and mum took us through a lecture about how we had made promises to be our cats "people" first. After a few minutes of silence, Ray started crying and saying she wanted to keep Anna. Mikey piped up with the response, "It's ok Ray now we can go get a bunny!" Oy Vey.

On another note, I am recovering quite well. Everyday gets a little better. I even had the strength and felt good enough to go sit out in the pool. First day out I got sunburned and bitten by mosquitoes.

Lessons learned.

Post Op Recovery

My body demands that this entry be short. The surgery took a grand total of 5 and 1/2 hours. I am recovering pretty well. Only one minor setback. Sore as hell. Hopefully I will be back to fully functioning soon. Thanks to anyone and everyone who has wished me well, visited me, brought gifts and goodies. Thanks Mum for helping me out while I am still completely and utterly useless other than taking up space and making noices. Much love. -Bren

Big Day

I'll make this short and sweet...

Today I got to see little Kylee off to Tuscon, Arizona. I had not seen her for years and she has grown up so much. Such a sweet little girl.

Tomorrow is the big day. I am scheduled for the 8 o'clock slot. It's a 3 to 5 hour procedure and it is expected that it will take me some time to wake from the anesthesia and a long recovery from there. I strongly discourage coming to see me prior to Friday. The first week is pretty messy but after the post op appointment Friday morning I should be decent enough for visitors. Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers, they are much appreciated. Loves!

Pre- Op Update

First things first, last night with Andrea was sooo much fun! Thanks for spending the time with me and most of all thanks for being patient with me.
This morning was a pretty interesting one. Ray had some dental work done this morning. My morning wake up call was her in hysterics, they had put her under sedation to do the work and she was having some adverse affects I guess. She screamed for a good 1 to 2 hours before I had to leave for my appointment.
At my appointment all went well. The procedure is still scheduled for the 8th which is just short of 4 days now. My enthusiasm for visitors has been put on hold. I am now encouraging people to wait a week. It's not the visitor that's the problem, but the recovery sounds long, painful, and what I hadn't really realized... Disgusting. Anyways, if you come to visit me I will probably be a mess. Consider yourself warned.

Summer!

School's out and I am embracing what summer I have before the surgery. Tomorrow is pre-op stuff and I am looking forward to being bed ridden. NOT! Anyways... The results will make it worth it. The surgery is on June 8th. Visitors are welcome, I will just be beat up and drugged, but your visit will be appreciated. :]

Since the last time I wrote I have pulled of a 3.0 GPA for fourth term which was pretty impressive for FOURTH TERM! Thank heavens it's over!

My parents agreed to put a t.v. in my room prior to my 18th birthday.(18th birthday is rule/law.) They made the exception due to the bed rest for the rest of the summer. I bought Glee in honor of the new t.v. and in celebration. Thanks Mum and Dad!

This Memorial Day was spent with Mum and Jules. I had the opportunity to go to Salt Lake to visit some graves of very important people in my life. I miss them all! I will never forget you! I had the chance to take a tour of my past and tour my own personal history. Amazing. I recommend everyone learn a little bit more about your past and yourself. You won't regret it no matter what you find out. We also stopped at Ikea on the way home for a girl's night out and to lighten the mood a bit. As much as I loathe Memorial Day I did enjoy myself and am glad I had the chance to go.

This morning while babysitting the kiddies, Mikey's cat Skittles, brought a bird into the house. This was one of the few times I have wished she had brought in something dead. I spent a good half an hour trying to get this bird to fly out of the house while two children were wrapped around my legs screaming bloody murder. Good Morning Starshine, The Earth Says Hello.

As of right now, I am expecting some company from my very good friend, Andrea! Yay for friends!
Over and Out! Bren.
